Brows and lashes are the treatments that buy you back time. Done well, they mean you can leave the house without doing anything and still look like you have made an effort.
We offer brow lamination, lash lifts and tinting at our salon in Hamble-le-Rice, close to Southampton. The aim is always definition that suits your face rather than a shape borrowed from someone else's.
Brow lamination
Brow lamination sets the brow hairs into a smoother, more uniform direction, which makes brows look fuller and more even without adding anything. It is particularly useful if your brow hairs grow in several directions at once, if you have gaps you would rather disguise, or if you are growing brows back after years of over-plucking.
It is a styling treatment rather than a permanent change, so it grows out gradually rather than leaving a hard line. Your therapist will talk through whether it is the right call for your brow hair, and will tell you if it is not.
Lash lifts
A lash lift curls your own lashes upward from the root, which opens up the eye and makes lashes look longer without extensions to maintain. There is nothing to glue, nothing to infill, and nothing that needs brushing every morning.
It suits people with straight lashes that point downward, anyone who finds extensions too much upkeep, and clients who wear glasses and are tired of lashes brushing the lens. Our guide to lash lifts covers how they work and how long they last in more detail.
Tinting
Tinting darkens the lashes or brows so that definition is already there when you wake up. It is often combined with a lift or a lamination, and it is especially effective for anyone fair-haired whose brows and lashes disappear without makeup.
A patch test is required before tinting. Please allow for this when you book, as it needs to happen in advance of your appointment rather than on the day.
[Patch test lead time, treatment durations and prices to be supplied.]
Choosing the right shape for you
The most common thing we are asked for is a brow shape someone has seen elsewhere. The most common thing we recommend instead is a version of it adapted to the face in front of us. Brow shape sits in relation to your eyes, your bone structure and how your hair actually grows, and copying a shape wholesale rarely flatters.
Expect an honest conversation, including when the answer is that a slightly softer or fuller shape will suit you better than the one you had in mind.
Aftercare
- Keep lashes and brows dry for the first day after a lift or lamination.
- Avoid steam, saunas and swimming for the first 24 hours.
- Do not sleep face down on the first night if you can help it.
- Brush laminated brows into place each morning; it takes a few seconds.
- Use a conditioning oil or serum if your therapist recommends one for your lashes.
Full aftercare is explained at your appointment, and you are always welcome to ring us if you are unsure about something afterwards.
How long results last and when to rebook
These are treatments that grow out rather than come off, which is part of why they suit people who do not want a lot of upkeep. How long yours lasts depends on your own hair growth cycle, which varies more between people than most clients expect.
Rather than quoting you a number that may not apply, your therapist will look at your lashes or brows and give you a realistic expectation, then adjust it once we have seen how yours behave after the first appointment. Most clients settle into a rhythm after a visit or two and book their next appointment before they leave.
Over-treating is a genuine risk with lifts and lamination. If you come back sooner than your hair can cope with, we will tell you to wait. That is not us turning away work, it is us protecting the hair you want to keep.
If it is your first time
First appointments take a little longer, because the conversation matters more than the treatment. We will look at how your hair grows, talk about what you like and dislike about your current shape, and agree on something before starting.
If you are nervous, say so. It is an extremely common thing to be nervous about, given it is your face and the results are visible for weeks. We would rather do something slightly more conservative on a first visit and build from there than go too far on day one.
Remember that tinting requires a patch test beforehand, so a first appointment needs a little planning. Ring us and we will arrange it.
Coming to see us in Hamble
Clients come to us for brow lamination and lash lifts from Hamble, Southampton, Netley, Bursledon and the wider Hampshire area. The salon sits in a Grade II listed building in the middle of the village and has done for a very long time.
If you would rather have your brows shaped by threading than waxing, we offer that too. See our waxing and threading page for the difference between the two.
